WORLD SERIES CHAMPION SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS.
Sounds good, doesn't it?
Not so many people calling for Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy getting canned now, I'll bet. What a funny season. When you think about it, the Giants did this season the same thing they've done the last few seasons. Add a guy here, add a guy there. No big splashes (the last couple of those weren't so good...Rowand, Zito, anyone?) but a bunch of no-name guys just trying to catch the proverbial "lightning in a bottle". This year, finally, we caught that lightning. Guys like Cody Ross, who we didn't even really want...Madison Bumgarner, who pitched so badly out of Spring Training that TODD WELLEMEYER beat him out for the 5th starter job...Aubrey Huff, who basically came here as a last resort...Pat Burrell, cut by Tampa Bay...Brian Wilson, an unheralded 12th round pick.
A-flippin'-mazing.
How good was Tim Lincecum tonight? How clutch was Edgar Renteria? And how good was it to see the whole team jumping for joy at the end of the game, celebrating San Francisco's first ever WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP?
I'll tell you. It was fan-f'ing-tastic. Great season guys. Can't wait to see you all next Opening Day.
